World of Social Media

We can’t deny that social media takes many portions in ourlives. Social media wasn’t really a big thing in past 10 years ago. Something like Mig33, MSN and so on weren’t essential for our daily activities. But, nowadays, we can see so many people are attached to social media. Some of them even make a living from it. Such an improvement to say that we can earn money by just sitting in front of computer doing things like uploading and posting for example. Many jobs can be done more easily by connecting to social media such as having a chat through Skype with overseas client rather than having a meeting in person. I myself do admit that I get so much eases by the existence of social media. I can contact my old friend easily by searching it on the search bar of my social media page. I can join some groups to get information about my interests such as music, books or upcoming events. I can also know about the newest update of my friends by seeing their photo upload on their timeline. However, the euphoria of using social media doesn’t always give you comfort. I personally feeling uncomfortable when my friends looking at their smartphones more often than looking at me when we are hanging out. I feel like their virtual world is more important than me. So, based on that experience, I try to leave my phone at home when I’m going out with my friends. Of course if it doesn’t take hours to go with them. I bring my phone when I go out for hours cause I need to contact my parents. I watched a video on Youtube recently about how we could miss something in ourlives if we look at our gadget too much rather than facing the real world. It was about how we can’t build a good communication and we will loose the chance to meet someone important in ourlives if turn our faces too much to our gadget. Based from those, I want to decrease the use of social media if it is not for an important thing. I want to keep my privacy by not posting too much things about my life. Because once I upload, people from all over the world will know about my profile. We have to be wise in using social media so that it won’t harm ourlives.

Example of Speech

Good morning, my honorable the judges and all participants. Let me introduce my self. My name is Shinta Ismi and I’m from 1 Demak High. Before I deliver my speech, let us thanks almighty Allah SWT. Because of His blessing, we can be here joining the speech contest with a good condition. Also, let’s not forget to always keep our hope for our Prophet Muhammad SAW’s help in the doomsday.

Ladies and gentle men, in this chance, I choose “Prevention of Drugs for Teenagers” as my speech title. Now, let’s see the hot news in our nation. Some moments ago, our government held an event in Jakarta with a purpose to keep the young generation from the attack of drugs. The reason to hold this event is because the drugs become more exist in teenagers’ life. But, the existence of drugs is not in the right way. It even can destroy teenagers’ life. How can? Before I explain it, I want define what drug is first.

A drug, broadly speaking, is any substance that when it is absorbed into the body of a living organism alters the normal bodily function. It also has a tendency to make the users become addicted to it. Truly, the uses of drugs in “medical world” are for diagnosing, curing, mitigating treatment or preventing from disease in man or animals. But, the truth is not only medical staffs that use drugs, but teenagers are also using it. Not for medical purpose such as to heal themselves from disease, but just for fun! That’s why I said drugs can destroy our young generation.

I’ll give the example. Ladies and gentlemen, you must know Putri Ariyanti’s case, right? Putri, the second president’s great grandchild, was grabbed to the police office. She was positively using drugs. Now, she has to free herself from drugs addiction. She still young, but she can’t enjoy her teenage life because of drugs. It’s pity, isn’t it?

Ladies and gentlemen, drugs have three main bad impacts for us. First, physically, organ system will be damaged, especially kidney and brain. No longer after that, some diseases will occur. Such as heart, skin and lungs disturbance, headache, even HIV / AIDS. Second, psychologically, drugs will make us unconfidence, difficult to concentrate, agitative, nervous and finally, drugs pull us to kill ourselves. Third, socially, drugs will change us to become anti social.

Based on those impacts, this nation has to remote the young generation from drugs. There are some ways to free the teenagers. We will find it after we know the reason. Now, the question is why do some teenagers use drugs? The answer is it can be caused by broken home, religious value degradation, influence from mass media, friendship, environment, less of activity and economic problem which can lead the teenagers into stress. Those are complicated things for teenagers who are still labile.

To prevent them from joining into the wrong way of life, we have to teach them about religious value. So, they can realize that they have the God who always be with them. Teenagers also need conducive situation. They should be kept out from stress. One way they can do is joining useful activity. Such as extracurricular or happy working for working teenagers. Family and friends also have important part to form teenagers’ personality. Make friends with a drug user will lead us to use drugs, too. So, family and friends should support the teenagers to choose good environment.

But, the most important thing we have to do is to give them attention. Ladies and gentlemen, teenagers need to be noticed and I represent all teenagers want to say that we want every people to confess our existence, we want you all to trust us and believe that we can do good things. Unfortunately, some of us are less of that attention. They fell to that darkness. So, what can we do? First, send them to rehabilitation centre to free themselves from drug addiction. Second, prevent them, so they won’t go back to use drugs again.

Ladies and gentlemen, drugs are so dangerous if it is not used properly, especially by teenagers. There are many bad impacts for their life. But, for every problem, there are always the solutions. The most important thing we have to do to keep our young generation from the dangers of drugs is by accompanying them to live in a good way.

The judges and all participants, that’s all I can say. Hopefully, it can be a good beginning for a better life in this nation. Thank you very much for your attention. Good morning.
